Four bright stars, with a fainter star just below the crossbar, in the Southern Hemisphere were viewed by Maori tribes as either an anchor of a great sky canoe, or an opening in the sky that the winds blew through. Early European voyagers saw them as a cross that helped to navigate Southward.
Sterling silver mismatched star studs, with three posts dangling down with stars to represent our Southern Cross. Total length including star stud is almost 5cm long.
