A gorgeous Hei Matau handcrafted from a beautiful piece of Aotea stone. With a soft palette of blues, greens, and white, this carving is a wonderful example of the uniqueness of the Aotea stone
Hei Matau (Fishhook) - Originally Māori have been fishermen. Their main food source was the sea, so a fishhook of high quality was an unbelievably valuable item to own. The hook became a symbol of prosperity, abundance, good health, power, authority and respect for the sea and its life in it. They also provide good luck and safety while travelling across water.
One of New Zealand's rarest crystals Aotea is unique to South Westland NZ, Jacobs Creek. Rarer than NZ Greenstone, Aotea comprises of Kyanite (blue) Fuchsite (green) and Quartz (white). Because of the different compositions of the stone no two pieces will ever be the same making each piece unique and different
